Robo-bobotronic

Yesterday i did something i thought i'd never do... I purchase the most gear heavy bike to date. I typically am a purist when it comes to bikes, as most of you know. Whether it's fixed or free, there is only one gear. The frame is rigid, chromoly steel because steel is real. Plus some simple brakes, either cantilever or caliper. I love the simple pleasure of riding a simple bike. In whistler it's all about components, shifters, and extreme riding, which is why finding a simple bike is a chore. Also with the climb i have to do every day to get home from work, i am top secretly grateful for gears. So although the bike is a hard tail(i just couldn't go the full suspension route), it's got bells and whistles. I'm talking many gears, disc breaks, front suspension, aluminum frame. I feel a little bit like i have gone over to the dark side. Even though i know it's a bit wrong and evil, the allure of the power is too strong. I am being pulled toward techno-complicated and away from contented simplicity. I am becoming a Bike Sith, just like Darth Vader, i'm more robot than human when i ride now. That is why my plan is to paint the bike matte black. Here a picture of my Specialized as it is right now.
The path toward the dark side is a slippery slope. I hope i can find the light after my time mountain biking in Whistler.
